Frequently Asked Questions
What is Microblading?
Microblading is a form of permanent makeup that is considered semi-permanent. Microblading is also known as 3D brows, hair-strokes, brow embroidery, and feather brows. Microblading enhances your brows while keeping them looking natural. Microblading does not use a traditional tattoo machine, instead it is performed manually using a sterile hand-tool that has sterile microneedles on the end of it. The manual method allows the artist to achieve very fine lines (hair strokes).
Does it hurt?
Pain is very minimal. Topical numbing cream is applied before and during procedure. Most clients describe microblading feeling similar to getting your eyebrows waxed. Some clients have even taken a nap during the procedure.
Can any complexion get microblading?
Yes, any complexion is suitable for microblading, as well as any color of natural eyebrow hair. There are many shades of pigments to choose from to accommodate everyone’s skin tone and natural hair color.
Do you have to shave your eyebrows off to get microblading?
No way! During your microblading consultation, you and Celeste will decide on the shape of your eyebrows together, she may make recommendations but she would never proceed with the procedure before the shape is agreed upon by the client. Indianapolis Microblading’s goal is to enhance your own natural eyebrows, not just leave you with tattooed eyebrows.
How old must you be to get microblading?
Ideally clients must be at least 18 years old for microblading. Celeste may make exceptions to perform microblading on minors suffering from certain medical conditions with a parental and possibly doctor consent.
How long does microblading last?
Microblading is a form of tattooing, although many consider it semi-permanent, pigment is implanted under the skin and we cannot guarantee the length of time it will remain. Microblading retention differs from client to client. Microblading typically lasts 1-3 years, however, there is no way to guarantee this. Your microblading can have permanent results if it is maintained with annual touch ups (usually recommended at 6-10 months), by having touch ups you are able to retain the saturation of the pigment and the shape of the brow. There are many factors that can contribute to quicker fading such as excessively oily skin, clients who tan, and certain facial products. However, everyone’s skin is different and results vary.
Do I need to wax them prior to my appointment?
No, it is best to let Celeste groom your brows on the day of your appointment, that way she can adjust the shape if needed. You will want to avoid brow grooming the week before your appointment.
What do I have to do for aftercare?
You will receive aftercare products to use as well as an aftercare instruction sheet to follow, the aftercare sheet will also include things to avoid during the healing process. The main things you will need to avoid are makeup on your eyebrows, heavy sweating on face, chlorine, excessive sun exposure/tanning, facial products containing Retin-
A, AHA’s, glycolic, or Vitamin A.
How long does it take to heal?
The healing process for microblading is typically 10-14 days, after that you can continue with your normal routine. Brows should be completely healed and ready for touch up by 4 weeks.
Do I have to get a touch up?

It is recommended to follow up with a touch up 4-8 weeks after initial appointment. The touch up appointment will perfect the brows. Your new brows will become much lighter by day 10 (up to 40% lighter in color), any areas that did not retain pigment well will be addressed during your touch up appointment, as well as any color changes, or subtle adjustments to the shape. Do I need to bring anything with me to my appointment?

What is Microshading/Powderfill?
Microshading/Powderfill are done similar to microblading, a different hand-tool/microneedles or machine will be used to create a denser and more filled in look than Microblading alone. won’t look as natural.

When you arrive to your appointment the first thing you will do is fill out a medical history release form and consent form for the Microblading procedure. You will then have numbing cream applied to the brow area, this cream will stay on approximately 15 min. The consultation will take place discussing desired brow shape and color. You will discuss your goals for your eyebrows and all questions will be addressed before beginning the procedure.
